2 by jamesmawm | 1 comments on Hacker News.
I thought it'd be nice if my friends and elders can run Docker containers as easy as using Facebook. The idea is for them to fill in some details, click Deploy Now, and the app should be live in a few secs. https://ift.tt/3fMorhs Video introduction: https://youtu.be/RYLZsBI3Wus Video example of how a Hello World app is deployed: https://youtu.be/6TEAFajMxus Step by step guide to running a WordPress instance: https://ift.tt/3yJsYJU I've just opened this up for beta testing. What's your thoughts? Is this something you might use? What features would you like to see?

Show HN: Board Games with Video Chat
7 by 30minAdayHN | 0 comments on Hacker News.
Tl;dr: Would like to hear thoughts on board games platform prototype (https://ift.tt/3vpO6TE) We are building an online board games platform which lets you create & play any board game online while video chatting with your co-players. Game play resembles the real world where users have to do everything from moving the pieces to enforcing the rules. We are quite early in our journey. We prototyped Chess to see if people would be interested in this direction. Please try it here! (https://ift.tt/3vpO6TE) You can enter your name that creates a new game session and you can invite others to join the session by sharing the URL. We are aware of the existing solutions like Tabletopia, Boardgamearena, etc. But we think that human connection which we all enjoy while playing games is missing that’s been the centerpiece of our current direction. We would like to hear from you about how you would like to use it vs why you wouldn’t use it.

Show HN: Colorado Excluded – Find companies that are avoiding hiring in Colorado
7 by abatilo | 1 comments on Hacker News.
Over the weekend I threw together a quick website that takes user submissions for job listings for companies that are avoiding hiring in Colorado: https://ift.tt/3oJ7GYk Colorado recently passed a law that, amongst other things, requires that companies who are hiring remotely in Colorado to list a salary range for their positions. While I obviously can't make any guarantee that this is the reason, many companies have started listing job openings that are excluding any Colorado based applicants. You can find more information in the FAQ on the about page: https://ift.tt/3fFIldY

Show HN: Unattach – free up your Google storage by removing Gmail attachments
5 by strnisa | 0 comments on Hacker News.
Hello HackerNews! I have a full-time job, but love building productivity tools in my spare time. Some time ago, my dad told me that his Gmail account was full and asked whether I could help. I built a simple app for him, and later decided to make it into a product. With the recent news that Google is discontinuing free storage for photos, more and more people are facing a similar problem. Unattach (https://unattach.app) is a desktop app for downloading and/or removing Gmail attachments from many emails at once. You can use it to free up your Google storage, which is shared between Gmail, Photos and other Google apps. For most people, using Unattach is cheaper than buying more Google storage; for tech-savvy users, it’s free. The hardest thing about Unattach has been balancing user trust and commercial potential. The app requires edit permissions to the user’s Gmail account in order to remove attachments. Therefore, it is important to establish trust between myself and the user. Many users felt significantly more at ease if they could build the app from source (or at least knowing that they could), in addition to the app being certified by Google. On the other hand, the more revenue I receive from the app, the more incentive I have to continue supporting it. The model I ended up with involves sharing the source code (under a restricted Shared Source license: https://ift.tt/2RFAzbV), so tech-savvy users can build and run it for free, and offering pre-built installers for a fee. That is, the software is free and the source is shared (though it's not “open source”), and users pay for the convenience of installers. The model has been working reasonably well. Users of Unattach are generally very happy with it, so I wanted more people to know about it. I launched the app on ProductHunt (https://ift.tt/3viSlQQ) earlier today, and am now sharing it with HackerNews. Happy to answer any questions you may have!

Show HN: Online Game Emulation Platform – Afterplay.io
5 by jimjimjimjim | 3 comments on Hacker News.
Hello HN users, I made a web app that allows you to upload any SNES or GameBoy ROM file and play right within the web browser. It’s called Afterplay.io. It got a lot of upvotes on Reddit, and I noticed users signing up and coming back to play games every day, which feels great and has motivated me to keep on developing this thing :). Demo Video : https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3K9iYbJ-1lQ Site : https://afterplay.io Problem: I couldn't play emulated games across my devices easily with saves. The Apple App Store does not allow emulator apps. Solution: Use Afterplay.io. It works in the browser, on PC’s, Mac’s, Android and iOS phones. Once you upload a game file, it will be stored on our server and we save the state of your gameplay automatically each 20 seconds. You can sign in, upload and play a game from your Mac, and later resume from your iPad or Android phone right where you left off. This is the first iteration of the web app. The core functionality is working but there’s still a lot of work to do. So I’m writing code and pushing tiny improvements a few times a day. I welcome any thoughts or suggestions.

Show HN: Create apps by describing them in English
3 by fersarr | 2 comments on Hacker News.
Hi HN! Fernando here. A few months ago [1], I shared Hupreter (https://hupreter.com) with you all and now I am finally opening it up so that everyone can try it for free. The goal is to let users create apps and process data effortlessly, by just describing what the computer should do, in spoken English. We have made a lot of progress since the first post, and even though it is far from perfect, I really want to see how people use it and get feedback. In terms of creating apps, it supports persisting data (you can store/retrieve values), if statements, while loops, etc. For data processing, we currently support uploading tables, calculating the median/variance/etc., plotting, and more. And we will be improving all of those in the coming days. For example, you can tell Hupreter: Given the table nba_players, calculate the average value in the column "points". More examples are available here: https://hupreter.blog/ Thanks for your time! Let me know what you think, either in the comments below or via fersarr AT gmail Fernando [1] https://ift.tt/2NNTDTf

Show HN: I create an app to tweak various secret settings on Mac
7 by onmyway133 | 1 comments on Hacker News.
Hi everyone let me tell you a story: Back 2 years ago I made Almighty https://ift.tt/3h8zSCd as a way to tweak some secrets settings like Showing Finder file extension or simply clear system clipboard quickly. Although the app had poor icon and no landing page, many have found it useful. Since then I've been working on an improvements for it, and when SwiftUI came out I decided to rewrite it from scratch to better leverage SwiftUI The result is Almighty 2 https://ift.tt/3bbIDrp with a nicer looking, both in main window and the menu bar. There are many tweaks categorized by apps. You can also organize into workflows to run all tweaks. There's also possible to set up a keyboard shortcut for each tweak. And voice command is in the work The plan is to provide more tweaks, like hiding status menu items, detect camera usage, obscure keyboard, ... The app is free to download and use, hope you find it useful. And suggestions for more tweaks are welcome

Show HN: Paragon Connect (YC W20) – Plaid for SaaS Apps
23 by fooly_wk | 8 comments on Hacker News.
We're Brandon and Ishmael, co-founders of Paragon (https://useparagon.com). We're building a platform to makes it easy to integrate your product with other SaaS apps like Salesforce / HubSpot / Slack. To share a little backstory, we started with a slightly different product (https://ift.tt/2xgY7K3) and decided to build Paragon Connect after hearing so many customer requests for this specific use case. If you’re a B2B software company, your customers have probably asked “does your product integrate with Salesforce / Slack / HubSpot / Jira / QuickBooks / etc.?” But building integrations in-house is a big lift - learning the differences between each vendor’s API and authentication methods, managing user tokens, and building the UI for users to manage their integrations can take months of engineering. Companies we talked to consistently shared this pain point with us, so we wanted to try creating a 'Plaid-like' experience for embedding 3rd-party SaaS integrations into your product. You can add Paragon's SDK with a few lines of code, then 'switch on' integration with any of our supported app providers. We provide a pre-built UI portal for your end users to activate and configure their integrations, and managed authentication so you don't need to handle the different auth strategies for each provider. Once you've setup our SDK, you can use Paragon's drag-and-drop workflow builder to map data between your app and other SaaS apps, or you can use Paragon's REST API to access the app provider's API directly. To show how it works, here's a quick demo video (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BcwOUMRXg_k&t=5s) where we build a Slack integration with Paragon Connect in about 8 minutes. If you're interested in trying Paragon Connect, you can sign up for a free 14-day trial here: https://ift.tt/3emQpRg. We'd love to hear your feedback - thanks for reading this far, and looking forward to your thoughts in the comments!
